Supporting Charities

Here at Wooda Farm, we aren’t just a holiday park, we are a business at the heart of a community and one that loves to do our bit to help nurture local people and protect the environment around us too. Not only will you love your stay at Wooda, you’ll also be supporting local charities in Bude and the surrounding area too!

Supporting Bude Charities with Your Stay at Wooda

There are more than a dozen local charities that Wooda supports! Here are a selection of them so you can get to know what we are all about and know that when you support us we will be supporting our local community, the environment and society at large wherever we can.

Bude Sea Pool

Bude Sea Pool

A cherished gem nestled on the beautiful coastline in Bude, Cornwall is the beautiful Bude Sea Pool. It is a unique tidal swimming pool that offers a safe and exhilarating experience for locals and visitors alike. This semi-natural pool is filled by the ocean during high tide and provides a tranquil haven for swimmers of all ages and abilities. With its stunning backdrop of cliffs and the vast Atlantic Ocean, Bude Sea Pool offers a truly picturesque setting for relaxation and enjoyment.

Maintained and cared for by dedicated volunteers and fundraising. This community treasure holds a special place in the hearts of those who have had the pleasure of swimming in its refreshing waters. Find out more about the work Bude Sea Pool does here>

Bude Climate Partnership

Another one of the things we are very passionate about is maintaining the unique Cornish environment and the natural beauty of the North Cornwall beaches and landscapes. The Bude Climate Partnership is a group of local organisations that work together to develop positive community-led climate-change responses in our area.

Using grants from the National Lottery and funding from the local community this awesome charity is researching and implementing strategies to reduce the community’s carbon footprint and the impact of tourism on our natural surroundings. Read more about the wonderful Bude Climate Partnership here>

Jay's Aim, Bude

Jay’s Aim

A Charity that is extremely close to our hearts is the wonderful Jay’s Aim. A close friend of the Wooda family runs this charity that was established with the goal of reducing sudden cardiac death amongst the young people of the South-West. They offer Defibrillator training (taken up by many of our staff on-site here at Wooda), Public Access Defibrillators (PADs) and Screening.

All this is done in memory of Jay, a local man who died at the tender age of 28 of an undiagnosed inherited heart condition and is sorely missed. Read the Jay’s Aim Story here>

Talan’s Trust

Talan’s Trust was set up in 2017 to raise money in memory of Bude local, Talan Penny, who tragically died from Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), a type of soft tissue sarcoma, the same year. Talan’s Trust raises money to spread awareness of this horrific disease and other childhood cancers as well as putting up funds for research to combat them.

Over £120,000 towards these noble goals have been rasied by the trust since Talan passed away and we are super proud to be involved. Find out more about how you can support Talan’s Trust here>

Supporting Bude Charities - RNLI

RNLI

RNLI or Royal National Lifeboat Institution, is a renowned charitable organization based in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. The RNLI’s primary focus is to save lives at sea by providing 24/7 search and rescue services along the coasts of the UK and Ireland. The organization operates a fleet of lifeboats and lifeguard services, staffed by dedicated volunteers and supported by some professional staff. The RNLI also conducts extensive education and prevention campaigns to promote water safety and raise awareness about the dangers of the sea. The RNLI’s work is vital in protecting and rescuing those in peril on the water and that is always on our mind being so close to the coast. Cousin Jack, the band who plays every Thursday night here at Wooda, also raises funds for this awesome life-saving charity with their superb sea shanties and fantastic folk music. Read more about the work the wonderful RNLI do here>
